The Treasurer

by Max Posner, Directed by Tony Pallone

October 18-20, 2019

Ida Armstrong, on her own in Albany, is broke, lonely, and fading fast. And she’s spending all of her children’s money, forcing her son to assume the unwanted role of The Treasurer: an arrangement that becomes untenable the more he questions his devotion to her. In this darkly funny, sharply intimate portrait, Max Posner chronicles the strained ties between a son and his aging mother, and the living hell of a guilty conscience. “Mr. Posner…has a sharp and original ear for the tension between what is spoken and what is not. The Son of The Treasurer is a very articulate man, but words fail him — in ways he will regret into eternity.” — New York Times

Tony Pallone (Director) returns to helm The Treasurer, having previously directed The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence. His performances for Theater Voices include The Devil’s Disciple, The Weir and Blithe Spirit. Tony has also been seen on numerous Capital Region and Berkshires area stages, working with a host of companies including Barrington Stage, Capital Rep, Hubbard Hall and the Theater Barn. He is a company member of NorthEast Theatre Ensemble, where he most recently played Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire.
