In addition to the four plays presented each season, Theater Voices' activities include active participation with other local non-profit community organizations, retirement communities, and schools.
Eleanor Koblenz Award
This award is given in honor of our founding Artistic Director, Eleanor Koblenz, a graduate of Albany High School. Since June of 2004, this award has been presented yearly to a graduating Albany High School student who has demonstrated excellence in the theater arts.
Sherlock Solo: A play for one actor.
On October 6, 7, 8, 2006, in collaboration with Albany Civic Theater, Theater Voices co-presented the World Premiere of Sherlock Solo: A play for one actor. The play was written and performed by Victor L. Cahn and directed by Edward Noel Wilson.
A Bintel Brief: Sixty Years of Letters From the Lower East Side to the “Jewish Daily Forward”
A special Theater Voices adaptation of Isaac Metzger’s book, A Bintel Brief was performed at the National Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, MA on May 21, 2006
Originally developed as a theatrical commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York, A Bintel Brief was first performed in September of 2004 at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, Troy, NY.
Literally Speaking: An evening with the short story
Theater Voices in collaboration with Literally Speaking and Hudson Valley Writers Guild presented a public reading of selected short stories submitted by local writers on November 11, 2006 at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Chapel and Cultural Center, Troy, NY.
